In Memory

Jim Dunkelberg

To the ROHO CLass of 78 and friends. This afternoon I received word that our classmate Jim Dunkelberg lost his war after many years with cancer. I know that many of you have lost a friend and by some of the stories and comments that have been posted on Facebook or told to me direct today. Some of those stories....well, ya'll know Jim!
A good friend of Jim's, Allen Lazenby, wrote this and I think it speaks to the heart of who Jim is.......... Jim’s so very prepared to meet God, but we all know it ain’t Jim’s timing as to when, but it’s getting closer. I’ve not known another man that’s packed such a full life of love, geology, geophysics, compassion for friends as has Jim. As one of our fraternity brothers said a few days ago, you could always be with Jim and feel invincible on life. It’s like Jim had his own bubble of invincibility. That’s so true. A void will certainly be left in my life, and your life when Jim catches his bus to Heaven, but Jim’s doing it his way and in his unique style. You know, I just bet Jim’s going to ask God to investigate all the oil field maps, and most likely take over as the “Oilfield curator” for God in Heaven. Pray for Jim.  Pray for Sylvia Chamberlain, his caretaker, whose under a lot of stress, and pray for Jim’s “class act” brothers, sister-in-laws, and nephews and nieces.
This from another friend......Love n hugs to you, Jim, and to your family. Thank you for your sweet kindness to this awkward teenager many years ago, and for your friendship over the years. Your passing will hurt us all, but thoughts of you will always bring smiles to our faces.
Jim passed at 5:00 PM this afternoon, which also hapens to be his dad's 90th birthday so you know Jim and his dad are home together enjoying a glass of MacAllan and telling stories.
I'll post additional details as they are made available.
